In calf augmentation surgery, the most serious risks may be a change in sensation of the skin on the legs, which is rare but possible. Scar disturbance may also be possible, although this is very rare. Another risk is extrusion of the implant, which is possible if an adequate layer of tissue is missing or if an infection occurs. Also, as with breast prostheses, capsular contracture or hardening of scar tissue may develop around the prosthesis after a while.
In addition, the risks inherent in any operation must be considered. The main ones are the appearance of postoperative infections and bleeding and those related to the use of anesthesia.
